Man arrested, charged with reckless homicide in 2022 Indy fatal drug overdose investigation

An Indianapolis man has been arrested and charged in connection with a 2022 fatal drug overdose on the citys near east side.

Nikolai Alfimow, 41, was arrested March 27 and faces formal charges of reckless homicide and possession of cocaine, according to online court records.

On April 15, 2022, IMPD officers responded to the 3700 block of East Market Street, near North Sherman Drive and East New York Street, for a report of an overdose.

Medics pronounced 38yearold Joseph Handlon dead at the scene, and the Marion County Coroners Office later ruled his death an acute drug overdose, IMPD said in a statement on social media.
