16yearold boy arrested, facing murder charge in January fatal shooting at near west Indy apartment

A 16yearold was arrested Monday and is facing a murder charge in a fatal shooting on Indianapolis near west side in January, IMPD announced Tuesday morning.

The shooting happened around 3:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 20 in the 200 block of North Warman Avenue, near West Washington Street.

Responding officers found 37yearold Rodney Nixon Jr. in the hallway of an apartment building with gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police previously said there was some type of disturbance leading up to the shooting, and a person of interest had been detained before being released pending further investigation. Multiple guns were found at the scene and taken as evidence.
