The transformation of the Circle Centre Mall is officially underway.
Hendricks Commercial Properties is getting ready for construction on its 600 million redevelopment of the mall. The company closed the deal to buy the mall from Circle Centre Development Company on April 24, 2024.
The redevelopment will include 400,000 square feet of restaurant, retail and entertainment space, along with 100,000 square feet of office space and 300 residential units. Plans also include 100,000 square feet of outdoor public space, transforming the existing enclosed mall into an open, pedestrianfriendly environment.
The project will be completed in two phases, officials said, with the first phase scheduled for completion in 2030.
The redevelopment will start with a design phase, officials said, where a master plan for the 2.5block section of downtown will be established.
The south block of Circle City Mall, bordered by Illinois and Meridian streets and Maryland and Georgia streets, will close on Tuesday, April 1 to prepare for construction. The skywalk connecting the Omni Severin Hotel to the mall will also be closed. All tenants in this specific section of the mall have vacated for the redevelopment, officials said.
