3 kittens rescued during cleanup efforts from severe storms in Traders Point

An Indianapolis nonprofit is receiving a 5,000 grant from a national nonprofit after helping rescue three kittens during the April 2 severe storms in Indianapolis.

According to Cuddle Me Cat Rescue, firefighters were in the Traders Point area on Thursday, April 3 to assist with cleaning up the aftermath of storm damage.

A spokesperson said four kittens were found nursing off their mom, who had been crushed by wreckage.

One of the firefighters mothers, known for her love of animals, agreed to help care for the kittens, but she quickly realized these kittens needed more skilled help, the spokesperson told 13News.

Cuddle Me Cat Rescue got the kittens Friday, April 4 and quickly jumped into action. Unfortunately, the smallest kitten died within minutes of intake due to exposure and injuries, the spokesperson said.

The other three kittens named Blossom, Bixby and Beau were extremely dehydrated but have responded well to treatment.
