Indiana Gov. Mike Braun announces property tax relief deal

Gov. Mike Braun said Wednesday he has reached a deal with lawmakers to reform property taxes for Hoosiers.

While the Indiana House of Representatives focused on priorities from the budget to annexing parts of Illinois, state senators were focused on lowering property taxes.

But the Senates version, in Senate Bill 1, did not make the governor happy. Braun wanted big tax cuts for Hoosier homeowners that would have left local governments and schools scrambling to make up 1 billion in lost revenue.
