Warfare takes realtime approach to Iraq War mission with ensemble cast

A dangerous war mission is conveyed across 95 minutes in Warfare.

Written and directed by Iraq War veteran Ray Mendoza and Alex Garland (Civil War, 28 Days Later), Warfare follows in real time a platoon of American Navy SEALs on a surveillance mission in Ramadi, Iraq, in 2006.

The ensemble cast is led by Emmy nominee DPharaoh WoonATai (Reservation Dogs), who is tasked with portraying communications officer Mendoza while being directed by him.

I was learning something new every single day. We were blessed to have him as our instructor during boot camp, during our threeweek training, and so just having him on set, it was very needed, and it helped me with my performance completely, WoonATai said.

Warfare opens in theaters nationwide Friday, April 11.
