The 20yearold son of a sheriffs deputy opened fire Thursday at Florida State University with his mothers former service weapon, killing two men and wounding at least six others, investigators said.

Officers quickly arrived and shot and wounded the shooter after he refused to comply with commands, said Tallahassee Police Chief Lawrence Revell.

The Supreme Court on Thursday kept on hold President Donald Trumps restrictions on birthright citizenship but agreed to hear arguments on the issue in May.

Trumps executive order to end birthright citizenship for the children of people who are in the U.S. illegally has been halted nationwide by three district courts around the country. Appeals courts have declined to disturb those rulings.

President Donald Trump attack Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell on Thursday for not cutting interest rates and said he could fire him if he wanted to, renewing a threat from his first term that could cause a major legal showdown over the issue of the central banks longstanding political independence.

If I want him out, hell be out of there real fast, believe me, Trump said in the Oval Office while taking questions from reporters during a visit with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. Im not happy with him.

Ball State Universitys board has approved a resolution they say brings the school into compliance with President Donald Trumps executive orders on DEI initiatives, the university said Thursday.

In a message to students and staff, President Geoffrey Mearns said the resolution by the board of trustees was in response to an executive order issued by the president in January.

A U.S. District Court Judge has denied a request to protect the legal status of seven Indiana college students.

All of the students are citizens of other countries, studying in Indiana on student visas. The Department of Homeland Security revoked their legal status without explanation, according to the ACLU of Indiana, which is suing on the students behalf.
