Indiana State Police say they have identified the killer following a 53yearlong investigation into the murder of Phyllis Bailer.
On Friday, July 7, 1972, 26yearold Bailer was traveling from Indianapolis to Bluffton with her 3yearold daughter in a borrowed car to visit her parents. Bailer and her daughter left Indianapolis around 8 p.m., but they never arrived at her parents house in Bluffton.

IMPD is investigating after three people were shot on the citys east side Wednesday afternoon.
Police responded to a report of a person shot around 3:45 p.m. April 16 in the 1200 block of North Irvington Avenue, near 10th Street and North Ritter Avenue.
An IMPD spokesperson confirmed three people were shot. Police said two of the gunshot victims are in critical condition and the third gunshot victims condition is described as stable.

One person was killed in a crash between a car and semi along U.S. 31 in Westfield Wednesday morning.
The crash was reported shortly before 7 a.m. April 16 near the 130 milemarker, just north of the 161st Street exit.
A preliminary investigation indicated the car was southbound on U.S. 31 when it crossed left over the grassy median for unknown reasons and crashed into a northbound semi, a Westfield Police Department spokesperson said in a statement.
The driver of the car, a man, died in the crash, while the semi driver, also a man, was taken to a local hospital with nonlifethreatening injuries, police said.

Four people between the ages of 20 and 22 are facing charges in connection to a deadly double shooting in Brownsburg.
Around 2:30 a.m. March 5, Brownsburg police officers reported hearing gunshots near their location in the 300 block of Acre Avenue, near East Main and South Green streets.
While searching the area and receiving 911 calls about shots being fired, officers found two men dead inside a Dodge Durango. They were later identified as 19yearold Lucas Brearley and 25yearold Zachary Johnson, both of Indianapolis.
