On the anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.s assassination, in the spot where Sen. Robert Kennedy united people after Dr. Kings death, Indianapolis city leaders broke ground on a project that will enhance the historic park.
Indianapolis, is proud to start work on a project that will bring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Park to new heights that will elevate this historic site to match its national significance and its invaluable legacy, said Indianapolis mayor Joe Hogsett.
Renderings show what the park will look like when the 6.8 million project is done.
Park goers will enjoy a new plaza, walkways, and an expansion of the Landmark for Peace Memorial.

Sitting on the corner of Washington and Sycamore streets in Martinsville is a staple of over 150 years. On Friday, April 4, First Presbyterian Church got a new member: a steeple.
It is the culmination of a lot of hard work and patience, Rev. John Erickson said.
Its a new beginning for the church. In 2023, tornadoes ripped through southern Indiana, destroying several cities.

The Purdue University Board of Trustees approved freezing tuition for a 14th time.
That will keep tuition at current levels through the 202627 academic year.
Base undergraduate tuition at Purdue will remain at 9,992 per year for Indiana residents and 28,794 for outofstate students.
Just because its easier to increase the 38% slice doesnt mean its the right way to do it. Frankly, we can charge whatever number we like. And what can they do? They would have to pay up. They would have to borrow money and pay up, perhaps. Our response is, Why not grow the other 62%? Theres an easy way to do it, a lazy way to do it, and theres a better way, a Boilermaker way to do it, President Mung Chiang said.

A portion of U.S. Highway 31 in Johnson County will be renamed in memory of a fallen state trooper.
This week, the Indiana Senate approved a resolution to rename the stretch from Smith Valley Road to County Line Road as State Trooper Aaron Smith Memorial Highway.
Smith was killed in 2023 while helping fellow troopers who were chasing a stolen car in Hendricks County.
